Why I don’t take insurance

Choosing to invest in your own care, without a diagnosis code deciding what you're allowed to work on or for how long, is part of the healing itself. Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis on file and can limit session length, frequency, and what we're permitted to address together. It puts someone else's approval between you and your own care.

You've spent a long time putting everyone else first. This is one place where that doesn't have to happen. Paying directly means the sessions are shaped around what you actually need, not what a claim form allows.

I provide a Good Faith Estimate and monthly superbills, so you can pursue out-of-network reimbursement if your plan offers it, without giving up control over your own treatment.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

As of January 1, 2022, state-licensed or certified health care providers must give a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges to every new and continuing client who is uninsured or not planning to submit a claim to insurance.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your mental health care will cost before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

This Good Faith Estimate does not account for late cancellations, no-show fees, crisis sessions, or other financial arrangements determined on a case-by-case basis.

For questions about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
